Ruby Philip-Katyal is a senior commercial lawyer with the Ontario Ministry of Attorney General and provides legal and strategic advice to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and most of its agencies. She is also a registered nurse with past experience in pre and post-operative surgical care units at Mount Sinai Hospital. She has significant corporate governance experience on various boards in the health and social services sectors including the North York General Hospital Board, the Ontario Lung Association and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. Ruby holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc. N.) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Windsor.

Dr. Joby McKenzie is a senior health executive who is passionate about patient excellence, digital engagement and system integration. Formerly Joby was a Senior Vice President at LifeLabs (medical diagnostic services) and held executive roles in business development, post-merger integration, government relations and strategy. Joby was also a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where she worked with clients in healthcare and financial services and helped them to increase shareholder value by developing and executing human capital and operating strategies. Joby was an international professional basketball player and Canadian national athlete, qualifying for the 2000 Olympics and receiving a silver medal at the 1999 PanAm Games.

Joby has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, a Doctorate of Philosophy in Molecular and Medical Genetics from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University.

Joseph Amato is Vice President & Senior Counsel at SmartCentres, one of Canada’s largest real estate investment trusts.  His wide-ranging expertise includes commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, development projects, project financing, redevelopment (including mixed use and site intensification projects) strategic planning and corporate matters.  He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (History and Political Science) in 1991, his Juris Doctor in 1995 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1996 and the Ontario Bar in 1998.

Azi Boloorchi Drake is a strategic and transformation executive with 15+ years of experience in healthcare across various sectors and functional areas. Azi is currently the VP of Commercial Strategy, Product & Analytics at Teladoc Health, a global leader in whole-person virtual care. Previously, Azi was the VP of Innovation, Data and Strategic Projects at Revera senior living where she oversaw the company’s venture capital investments, advanced analytics portfolio and Project Management Office. Prior to Revera, Azi held a series of leadership positions at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care and digital health start-ups.

Azi is a board member at Mackenzie Health and a member of the Commercial and Entrepreneurial Advisory Board at iGan Partners, a digital health and medical device focused venture capital firm.  In addition, Azi is an adjunct faculty member at Schulich MBA, a guest lecturer at Rotman MBA, and a frequent speaker at various local and international conferences.

Dev Chopra brings a diverse senior leadership background within Healthcare and the Broader Public Sector to the Mackenzie Health Board. Past appointments during his professional career include Executive Vice President, Clinical Programs and Executive Vice President, Corporate Services at CAMH, Chief Administrative Officer at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto, Vice President Finance at Ontario Power Generation, and Vice President Administration and CFO at Humber College. Dev’s responsibilities under these various roles have included strategy development, corporate planning, finance, human resources, information technology, and real estate management & development.

He has served on a number of corporate boards including ICES, the Institute of Work and Health, Assurex Health, Liberty Village Family Health Team, CAMH Foundation, and the Toronto Community Foundation. Dev holds an MBA from McGill University, and a BE (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from Jabalpur University, India. He has attended an executive development program at Harvard University and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Fay Lim-Lambie, a visionary leader with over 17 years’ experience in higher education leadership and health care administration has spent the last seven years in higher education as a senior academic leader providing strategic and operational leadership in academic roles. As the inaugural Senior Vice President of Academic (SVPA) at ILAC Education Group comprising of four distinct divisions: higher education offering vocational and public private partnership programs, university pathways, language training and testing Fay leads the academic and faculty teams with a focus on quality outcomes for students and the ongoing development of faculty. 

Fay has a Masters in Social Work and advanced certifications in health executive leadership, governance, and adult education. Since 2020, she has served as Chair of the Board of Directors at Mackenzie Health, a regional health care provider in York Region that includes Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.

Fay brings her extensive experience in the hospital, government, and social services sectors, as well as demonstrated leadership in post-secondary education. As the former Dean of Health Sciences, Community Services & Early Childhood Centres at George Brown College and Dean of the School of Health, Wellness & Sciences at Georgian College she has had strategic, operational, and senior academic leadership and oversight of a wide range of programs, experiential learning, and health and wellness clinics in multiple campuses.

A leader in interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration, Fay was formerly Executive Director of Health Disciplines Professional Practice & Education, Ambulatory Care Clinics and Clinical Services at Baycrest Health Sciences, and the past Treasurer of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. 

Active in health and government organizations, in 2016 Fay was appointed to Mackenzie Health Board of Directors.  She has served as Chair of the Clinical Quality, Safety and Risk Committee and in 2019 was appointed as Second Vice Chair of the Board of the Directors.  She has an appointment with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, Ministry of the Attorney General Ontario-a post she’s held for two decades-where she is called upon to conduct, investigate and facilitate resolution in high- conflict child custody cases.

Fay holds a Master of Social Work from McMaster University, a Bachelor of Social Work from York University, and a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University.  She is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and is completing her PhD in higher education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto.

In addition, she holds certificates in family mediation, health law, patient safety, critical incident debriefing and clinical counseling.

John is a Senior Partner and Vice President at IBM Canada where he is responsible for leading one of their largest global client relationships. John brings a combination of 25 years in management consulting with IBM and PwC Canada driving large-scale, technology-based business transformations across many industries and geographies, over 15 years of financial management and audit experience with large Canadian public companies as an Audit Partner at PwC Canada, and over 30 years of being a director, including holding senior board leadership roles, on not-for-profit boards across many sectors, including Holy Trinity School (Richmond Hill), the National Ballet School and the United Way of Greater Toronto.

John is a Chartered Professional Accountant - CA (Ontario) and holds an MBA and HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

 John is a resident of Thornhill/Markham for the past 37 years.

Peter is a Partner at PwC Canada (PwC) with extensive experience in advisory and assurance services in the areas of business transformation, information technology, governance processes and controls and risk management. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Bachelor of Commerce program and designated as CPA, CA-IT and CITP. He leads PwC's National Digital Trust Solutions practice with a focus on emerging and disruptive technologies prioritizing on blockchain, robotic process automation, cyber security and privacy, enterprise cloud technologies and transformation assurance. He is a member of PwC's Risk Assurance leadership team that oversees over 40 partners and 500 professionals in the practice with day-to-day operations and go to markets responsibilities. 

Peter is also the global IT audit partner for some of PwC’s most iconic audit clients focused on risks and controls associated with enterprise systems. He led various ERP implementations, go live support engagements and post implementation reviews across clients pursuing business transformation. Peter has also served on the Board of CPA Canada's IT Alliance and has taught emerging issues for advance accounting at York University. He is a resident of Thornhill/Markham for the past 12 years.

Dr. Steven Jackson was appointed Chief of Staff in September 2013. He has over 15 years' experience in medical leadership, administration and governance. Prior to joining Mackenzie Health, Dr. Jackson was Chief of Staff at The Scarborough Hospital. He also served there at Medical Director for Peri-Operative Services and President of the Medical Staff Association during the amalgamation of two community hospitals that became The Scarborough Hospital. He has chaired and co-chaired numerous committees and task forces to improve physician and hospital processes.

Dr. Jackson is a general surgeon by training, specializing in surgical oncology. He holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He has also completed several other recognized medical leadership programs from the Rotman School of Management and the Canadian Medical Association. Dr. Jackson has been published in medical journals such as The Journal of Laparoendoscopic Surgery and The Canadian Journal of Surgery.

Dr. Jack M. Mintz is the President’s Fellow of the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary after serving as the Palmer Chair and founding Director from January 1, 2008, to June 30, 2015.

He is a board member of Mackenzie Health, York Region, Ontario and the Aristotle Foundation for Public Policy. He is a Distinguished Senior Fellow, MacDonald-Laurier Institute, Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute, and research fellow at International Tax and Investment Centre in Washington D.C., CESIfo Germany and Oxford’s Centre of Business Taxation.  He is a member of the editorial board of International Tax and Public Finance. He is weekly contributor to the Financial Post of Canada.

Dr. Mintz became a member of the Order of Canada in 2015 as well as receiving the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for service to the Canadian tax policy community and Queen Elizabeth Platinum Medal in 2023 for serving as chair of the Alberta Premier’s Economic Recovery Council from 2020 to 2022. 

In the past he served on corporate boards including Brookfield Asset Management (2002-2012), Morneau Shepell (2010-2020), CHC Helicopter (2003-2008) and Imperial Oil (2005-2023).  He has consulted widely with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and various governments, businesses, and non-profit organizations in Canada and abroad, including serving as National Policy Advisor for EY Canada from 2015 to 2021.

He recently chaired the Alberta Premier’s Economic Recovery Council from March 2020 to July 2022 and was a member of the Alberta Health Services board June 2021 to November 2022.

Dr. Sarah Moore is a general surgeon with a subspecialty focus in advanced laparoscopy and colorectal surgery. Originally from Nova Scotia, Dr. Moore obtained her BSc (hons) in Chemistry at St Francis Xavier University. Dr. Moore completed her MD at The University of Toronto and her subsequent general surgery residency at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Moore completed her fellowship in colorectal surgery at The University of Toronto while concurrently completing her Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at U of T.  Dr. Moore has a clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer. She maintains research interests in fertility and maternal outcomes in IBD and continues to be involved in studies and conferences in this arena. Dr. Moore is an avid teacher, participating in resident training and education both clinically and academically for the U of T general surgery residency program.

Dr. Moore was elected to the Professional Staff Association at Mackenzie Health in 2022. She is a strong patient advocate, strives for excellence in delivery of patient care and is passionate about well-being of healthcare providers.

Deryn Rizzi serves as the Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management with Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and is the former Fire Chief of the City of Vaughan. Beyond her work in the fire service, Deryn continues to be a trusted, respected and sought after thought leader, committed to educating about proven and emerging best practices in emergency preparedness and response. She has spoken nationally and internationally on topics ranging from active threats to leadership. Deryn was named one of Toronto’s most inspirational women by Post City magazine. She also served as the elected Vice President of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, chaired the Human Relations Committee for the International Association of Fire Chiefs, was a Director on the Hospice Vaughan Board and the St. John Ambulance Ontario Division. Deryn completed a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University. She graduated from York University with both a Master of Arts, Disaster and Emergency Management and a Disaster and Management Emergency Certificate. She has also completed a Diploma in Public Administration from Western University and holds a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership from the Schulich School of Business.

Altaf Stationwala was appointed President and CEO of Mackenzie Health in 2010. Under his leadership, Mackenzie Health received Accreditation with Exemplary Standing consecutively in 2013 and 2017 – the highest rating a Canadian healthcare provider can achieve – and numerous awards for its commitment to safety and quality patient care, as well as approval to build the organization’s second hospital – Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. In June 2015, Altaf established the Mackenzie Innovation Institute, which includes the first-in-Canada Innovation Unit initiative, a unique integration of advanced technology that transforms the delivery of care. Prior to joining Mackenzie Health, Altaf held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Mount Sinai Hospital, and previous to that he was Site Executive - Brampton Civic Hospital and Vice President, Patient Services at the William Osler Health Centre.

Altaf was presented with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives Canada's Outstanding Young Health Executive of the Year Award in 2007 for his demonstrated leadership in improving the effectiveness and sustainability of the country's health system. He has a diverse educational background with undergraduate degrees in Economics, Geography and Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Health Administration.  Altaf is adjunct faculty at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and a surveyor with Accreditation Canada. Altaf currently serves as Chair of the Ontario Hospital Association.

David Steinberg is the founder and principal of Steinberg Barristers, a boutique law firm specializing in complex corporate and commercial litigation and advocacy. David has been practicing law since 1998, and prior to that, he established and directed a national internship program designed to connect law students with local clinics and community organizations, to enhance access to justice and foster greater community service. Mary-Agnes is the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive at Mackenzie Health, overseeing all clinical operations sited at both Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, the Reactivation Care Centre, as well as multiple regional and community-based programs for Chronic Kidney Disease, Stroke, Behavioural Health and Brain Injury Services. As part of the clinical services portfolio, Mary-Agnes also oversees Quality, Patient Safety, Integrated Risk, and Professional Practice.

Throughout her career, Mary-Agnes has continuously demonstrated a strong commitment to collaborative and interprofessional practice, education and research, in addition to extensive operational experience in clinical programming and strategic planning. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mary-Agnes led Mackenzie Health’s pandemic response and opened Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital ahead of schedule, in collaboration with the province to alleviate pressures faced across the system. Mary-Agnes also led corporate operational planning and readiness efforts for the highly successful opening of the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, as a full-service hospital.

Mary-Agnes holds a Bachelor and Master of Nursing degree from the University of Toronto and a PhD from McMaster University. She also serves as an advisory member for the Canadian Nurses Association and was most recently appointed to the Governing Council for the University of Toronto.
