Breast cancer screening saves lives. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, breast cancer deaths have been on the decline thanks in part to regular mammogram screenings and improvements in treatment. It’s estimated that about 1 in 8 Canadian women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime, and 1 in 31 will die from it.
During Mackenzie Health’s fourth annual Mammothon, it will be even easier to receive a mammogram. On Thursday, May 16 from 12 – 8 p.m., women ages 50 and over can get a mammogram in our Mammography department. Book your appointment by calling Patient Scheduling at 905-883-2004.
Walk-ins will also be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Mammography is located on the second floor near Patient Registration. Patients can access it by entering the hospital through the D-wing entrance near Emergency.
For more information, call the Mackenzie Health Mammography team at 905-883-1212 ext. 7255.
