Orion Health, a leader in population health management and healthcare integration solutions, announced today that Mackenzie Health selected the Rhapsody Integration Engine as its new integration engine. Rhapsody will serve to convert Mackenzie Health’s existing connections and allow them to build new interfaces in an efficient and timely manner. The future-proofed engine will fortify Mackenzie Health’s continued healthcare delivery upgrades, cost-effectively over the long-term.
“As we began planning for the new Electronic Medical Record (EMR), we realized that the healthcare information system (HIS) selected needed to accommodate both rapidly evolving and legacy technology,” said Sharon MacSween, Director, Clinical Informatics, Mackenzie Health. “Rhapsody has proven that it has the ability to address both of these issues, and improve the overall efficiency of hospital systems.”
Rhapsody will enable Mackenzie Health to meet the stringent requirements of its fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) – Epic, as well as satisfy all other integration points with additional complementary systems. The new integration engine will support the existing needs of over 100 interfaces currently active at Mackenzie Health, convert existing connections, as well as allowing for the development of new interfaces.
“Since going live February 2016, the engine has already facilitated the quick creation of interfaces, including an impressive four interfaces within three weeks. Using an interface engine of this caliber allows us to enhance patient care by sending information to family physician offices electronically thereby shortening turnaround time for results and eliminating manual intervention,” adds MacSween.
“Rhapsody has the ability to drastically scale to accommodate growth of 100 per cent in interfaces and 200 per cent in message volume,” said Gary Folker, EVP for Orion Health in North America. “This means the engine can provide Mackenzie Health with the ability to accommodate both patient-centred care and overall population health management. Mackenzie Health selected Rhapsody knowing that it is a user-friendly, powerful platform that is vital to creating a world class health experience.”
An integration engine is a key component of healthcare delivery and has the ability to provide better access and secure sharing of information between healthcare providers, patients and healthcare institutions. Rhapsody is a robust, comprehensive and powerful back-end integration engine which is designed to carry out rapid interoperability between healthcare IT systems, regardless of the technology or the standards. It is reliable and scalable, making it easier for healthcare organizations to both use as a starting point as a new system or to update legacy systems and transition more easily to new solutions. Rhapsody is also the first integration engine to support FHIR and can implement the new HL7® FHIR® standard.
