Mackenzie Health Foundation’s Ride For Health, presented by CIBC, achieved a record-breaking year raising more than $200,000 in support of the Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to help build and equip Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.
Co-chairs for the Ride For Health, Mark Roccatani and Domenic Gurreri are thrilled with the level of support the cycling community has shown for the event, now in its third year.
“It makes us very excited that we’re making an impact for the Vaughan Hospital”, Domenic says. “When Mackenzie Health’s unique two-hospital model of care is complete, the best health care will be right in our own neighbourhood”, Mark says.
The Ride For Health premier cycling event features a challenging yet enjoyable 60- or 100-kilometre ride around York Region that starts and ends at Copper Creek Golf Course in Kleinburg. Although the weather did not cooperate and the event on June 4 was unfortunately rained out, more than 150 riders came out to support Mackenzie Health, enjoy some delicious food and prizes, as well as participate in a live fundraising auction.
Top fundraisers this year were Mike Primucci of Team Pizza Nova in first place, Lee Zanetti of Team G&L Group in second place, and Nick Ierfino of team Ierfino & Associates in third place.
“The money and the support and the enthusiasm for the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital is growing here in York Region,” said President and CEO of Mackenzie Health Foundation, Ingrid Perry.
Mackenzie Health is a regional healthcare provider currently serving the rapidly growing communities of southwest York Region at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and through a network of community sites in Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Barrie.
When completed in 2020, Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will provide an additional 350 beds, 1,800 full-time staff positions and 100 physician specialists to Mackenzie Health.
