Richmond Hill, ON (July 15, 2021) — Mackenzie Health is pleased today to announce the appointment of Fay Lim-Lambie as the new chair of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors. Fay, Dean of the Centre for Health Sciences and the Centre for Community Services and Early Childhood at George Brown College, was named chair during Mackenzie Health’s Annual General Meeting on July 14 and takes over the post from Mark Falbo, President of Mircom Group of Companies.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Fay in her new role as chair of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors,” said Altaf Stationwala, Mackenzie Health’s President and CEO. “With her commitment to our community and her extensive leadership experience, Fay embodies Mackenzie Health’s mission, vision and values. Her dedication to our cause will allow our talented team of health care workers to continue to focus on providing the best care to our patients and families.”
Fay is currently the Dean of the Centre for Health Sciences and the Centre for Community Services and Early Childhood at George Brown College. Prior to her current role, she was the Dean of Health, Wellness and Sciences at Georgian College, the Executive Director of Health Disciplines, Professional Practice & Education, Ambulatory Care Clinics, Clinical Support Services at Baycrest Health Sciences, and the past Treasurer of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. A registered social worker, Fay is often called upon by the Office of the Children’s Lawyer under the Ministry of the Attorney General to assist with high-conflict child custody cases.
Fay, a long-time resident of York Region, has been a member of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors since 2016 and has helped guide the organization through periods of incredible growth and change, including its most recent transformation to a two-hospital system supported by a network of community-based services. In 2019, she was elected as second vice-chair and served as chair of the Clinical Quality, Safety and Risk Committee.
“I am thrilled to take on this new role as chair of the Mackenzie Health Board of Directors and I’m excited to continue our work with this talented group of individuals who all exemplify what it means to be a public servant,” said Fay Lim-Lambie, chair of Mackenzie Health’s Board of Directors. “As we embark on this new chapter in our organization’s history, we look forward to working together to see the Mackenzie Health team through the pandemic and continue to make a difference in the lives of the residents in the communities we serve.”
Along with Fay’s appointment, Mackenzie Health also named Stephanie Zee, Managing Director within the Financial Crimes Unit at BMO Financial Group, as the new vice-chair and welcomed several new members to the board:
- Krista Collinson, Head of Direct to Consumer Division, Samsung
- Deryn Rizzi, Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management with Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and former Fire Chief of the City of Vaughan
- David Steinberg, founder and principal of Steinberg Barristers
- Rajesh Uttamchandani, Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer at MaRS
Mackenzie Health also thanks outgoing members of its Board of Directors, Mark Falbo, Gary D’Andrea, Anthony Ianni and Len Koroneos, for their years of service and commitment to achieving Mackenzie Health’s two-hospital reality. Under the leadership of outgoing chair Mark Falbo, Mackenzie Health navigated its way through a global pandemic supporting the health care system while working to fully open its second hospital, the first net new hospital to be built in Ontario in more than 30 years.
“Thank you to Mark and the rest of the directors who served under his tenure as chair through a very challenging time for the health care community,” said Stationwala. “Their guidance and advocacy got us to where we are today as a world-class organization delivering the ultimate in care to our community.”
