The start of summer has brought special milestones — some of which we’ve already celebrated, and others upcoming! We have new board leadership, a new chapter, and exciting events on the horizon, just to name a few.
With warmer weather, comes more time to spend outdoors with family and friends, and we’re grateful to those who have kicked off the summer season with fundraising events in support of health in our community.
No matter how you choose to support Mackenzie Health Foundation, we hope you know how profound your impact is, and the difference your generosity makes. A few of these accomplishments, made possible because of your support, are highlighted in our 2023-2024 Community Report, linked below.
Thank you for your continued support of Mackenzie Health Foundation and health care in York Region. We wish you a happy and joy-filled summer!

Turn your summer gathering into a fundraiser!
Summer is the perfect time to gather friends, family and community members together — and it’s even better when you do it in support of a great cause, like health care!
We sat down with Carina Lam, Manager of Community Giving at Mackenzie Health Foundation, to learn more about the impact of community fundraisers and some tips on how to make your event a success.
"Not many people realize that communities must fund 100% of equipment within our hospitals. So, when individuals, families, clubs or other groups decide to host a fundraiser in support of Mackenzie Health Foundation, it makes a big impact,” says Carina. "Thanks to the funds raised through community events, our loved ones can continue to rely on our hospitals in their time of need — that’s why your generosity matters so much! We’re so grateful to those who think of us when they decide to host an event, and Mackenzie Health Foundation is always happy to celebrate the impact they make on our hospitals.”
Carina’s tips for a successful fundraiser:
SHARE YOUR STORY
People love supporting causes that are close to the hearts of those they care about. Do you have a special connection to Mackenzie Health or know someone that does? Share the reason you are fundraising, and why you believe it’s important that others support, too!
SPREAD THE WORD
Spreading the word about your fundraiser is an important step towards success — regardless of the event’s size. You can share information through word of mouth, on social media, or via email. You’ll be surprised how much traction you get!
BE CREATIVE
Did you know can turn almost anything into a fundraising event? From summer barbecues, lawn game tournaments, to birthday or anniversary celebrations, people enjoy participating in creative and fun events.
