At Mackenzie Health, we strive to provide excellent care to every patient, every time.  We meet this commitment by sustaining a culture where quality, safety and continuous improvement are an integral part of our everyday work.  Our Quality Improvement Plan outlines our current performance, targets areas for improvement and helps track our progress and is one of the ways we are working to improve our patients' experiences.

Our Quality Improvement Plan, or QIP, is one tool that we are using to help us document and review our current performance in a variety of areas. With this plan, we will be able to very clearly see our targeted areas for improvement and chart our progress.

Each year, in accordance with the Excellent Care for All Act (2010), we post our QIP publicly and submit it to the provincial government so they can improve care across the health system.  Quality Improvement Plans provide a meaningful way for Mackenzie Health to clearly articulate our accountability to our community, patients and staff. Our 2017/18 Quality Improvement Plan continues to support our journey to "create a world class health experience". Our key areas of focus have been chosen including feedback from our patients and ensuring our guiding principles of "teamwork, accountability and safety" are at the forefront of all improvement plans. 

How to Read the Quality Improvement Plan

Our Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) is made up of two parts:

  1. A document that provides a brief overview of our quality improvement plan, highlighting and listing our hospital's top priorities for the year.
  2. A spreadsheet that includes our improvement targets and initiatives. The spreadsheet includes a core set of indicators that all similar hospitals across the province are working on.

The Ontario Health Quality Council has requested that all hospitals report on a series of core indicators to support province-wide comparisons. The core indicators that apply to our hospital are reflected in our QIP.

The QIP is only one of the ways we are working to improve our patients' experiences. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Quality Improvement Plan

Mackenzie Health is committed to creating a world-class health experience, by continually improving to ensure quality patient care. System-wide quality improvement is the vision that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care provides for all health care sectors, using the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) as an enabler to support this goal.

Mackenzie Health's QIP highlights our organization's ongoing plans and using common language explains our priorities, targets and initiatives as well as how we will be able to chart our progress.
