Meet the Senior Leadership Team

Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health

Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health

Altaf Stationwala was appointed President and CEO of Mackenzie Health in 2010. Under his leadership, Mackenzie Health received Accreditation with Exemplary Standing consecutively in 2013 and 2017 – the highest rating a Canadian healthcare provider can achieve – and numerous awards for its commitment to safety and quality patient care, as well as approval to build the organization’s second hospital – Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. In June 2015, Altaf established the Mackenzie Innovation Institute, which includes the first-in-Canada Innovation Unit initiative, a unique integration of advanced technology that transforms the delivery of care. Prior to joining Mackenzie Health, Altaf held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Mount Sinai Hospital, and previous to that he was Site Executive - Brampton Civic Hospital and Vice President, Patient Services at the William Osler Health Centre.

Altaf was presented with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives Canada's Outstanding Young Health Executive of the Year Award in 2007 for his demonstrated leadership in improving the effectiveness and sustainability of the country's health system. He has a diverse educational background with undergraduate degrees in Economics, Geography and Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Health Administration.  Altaf is adjunct faculty at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and a surveyor with Accreditation Canada. Altaf is a past Chair of the Board for the Ontario Hospital Association.

Dr. Steven Jackson, Vice President, Medical Planning and Chief of Staff, Mackenzie Health

Dr. Steven Jackson, Chief of Staff, Mackenzie HealthDr. Steven Jackson was appointed Chief of Staff in September 2013. In his most recent administrative position, Dr. Jackson was Chief of Staff at The Scarborough Hospital. Prior to this role, he was Medical Director for Peri-Operative Services and also served in the role of President of the Medical Staff Association during the amalgamation of two independent community hospitals that became The Scarborough Hospital. He has chaired and co-chaired numerous committees and task forces to improve physician and hospital processes.
A senior medical executive with over 15 years' experience in medical leadership, administration and governance, Dr. Jackson is a general surgeon by training specializing in surgical oncology. Dr. Jackson holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and has successfully completed several other recognized medical leadership programs from the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management and the Canadian Medical Association. In addition to his professional experience, Dr. Jackson has been published in medical journals such as The Journal of Laparoendoscopic Surgery and The Canadian Journal of Surgery.

Mary-Agnes Wilson, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive, Mackenzie Health

Mary-Agnes Wilson, Interim Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive, Mackenzie Health

Mary-Agnes is the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nurse Executive for Mackenzie Health. Mary Agnes is responsible for the Clinical Operations portfolio which includes all  inpatient and ambulatory services sited at the Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, and services at the Reactivation Care Centre, the Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences, the York Region District Stroke Centre, York Region Chronic Kidney Disease Program, York Region Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault (DASA) Care Centre and York-Simcoe Brain Injury Services. Mary- Agnes also has oversight for  the Quality, Patient Safety & Risk and the Professional Practice Portfolios. 

Mary-Agnes’ accomplished career includes over 20 years of progressive senior leadership roles in large and complex community and academic hospitals.  She has strong operational experience in clinical programming, strategic planning and operational readiness. Throughout her career, Mary-Agnes has continuously demonstrated a strong commitment to collaborative and interprofessional practice,  education and research.   

Mary-Agnes was the former Interim Executive Vice President, Patient Care and Chief Nurse Executive at Mount Sinai Hospital as well as the Vice President, Professional Practice and Associate Chief Nurse Executive. Mary-Agnes holds a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Toronto and a PhD from McMaster University.

Richard Tam, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Mackenzie Health

Richard Tam, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Mackenzie HealthRichard Tam is the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Mackenzie Health. Richard is responsible for numerous portfolios at Mackenzie Health including Clinical Support Services, Support Services, Clinical Utilization and Quality Based Procedures, Finance & Information Management, Information Communication, Automation and Technology (ICAT), Transformation and Innovation. Previously, he was Vice President, Finance and Corporate Services, responsible for Capital Projects, Financial Services, Information Technology, Information Management Decision Support, Business Development, Payroll, Parking, Case Costing, Support Services and Procurement.

With more than 20 years of healthcare related experience, Richard has held various senior leadership roles in different hospitals. He plays a pivotal role in implementing financial best practices, developing strategies, new business models and actively participates in various committees in the health sector and local community. In 2016 , Richard was the recipient of the Innovation in Healthcare Leadership award from the Canadian College of Healthcare Leaders. Richard holds an MBA from York University, a BSc from the University of Manchester and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

David Stolte, Vice President, Strategy and Redevelopment, Mackenzie Health

David Stolte, Vice President, Strategy and Redevelopment, Mackenzie HealthDavid Stolte is the Vice President, Strategy and Redevelopment at Mackenzie Health. Prior to this appointment in January 2012, David was Mackenzie Health's Chief Strategy Officer after joining the hospital in August 2009. David's responsibilities include planning and implementation of the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, development of Mackenzie Health's strategic plan and the systems to ensure strategy implementation, and ongoing performance improvement including lean process improvement.

David brings seventeen years of experience working in the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. During his time in the provincial government, David held progressively responsible leadership positions and worked collaboratively with hospitals from across the province to resolve planning, program, funding, restructuring and capital redevelopment issues. As well, David held a wide variety of other high priority positions in the ministry including the Director of Executive Support in the Deputy Minister's Office, Capacity Lead for the provincial ER/ALC Strategy, and Project Director for the Ontario Diabetes Strategy. David holds a Master of Business Administration in Health Services Management from McMaster University as well as a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Stav D'Andrea, Vice President, People Services and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Mackenzie Health

Stav D'Andrea, Chief Human Resources Officer, Mackenzie HealthStav D'Andrea joined Mackenzie Health in January 2013 as the Chief Human Resources Officer. Stav is responsible for a portfolio of services which includes Human Resources, Learning and Organizational Development, Occupational Health and Safety, Central Staffing Services, Volunteer and Community Resources and Child Care Services. A key responsibility is the 'people' Human Resources strategy alignment with Mackenzie Health's organizational strategic plan.

Stav brings over 25 years of experience working in the healthcare sector in progressive Human Resources leadership positions in both acute and complex care and rehabilitation Hospitals. She has led a variety of strategic initiatives including Talent Development and Leadership programs, as well as Human Resources transition and transformation programs for Hospital redevelopment. Stav is a graduate of University of Toronto in the Arts and Leadership, is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and a graduate of Seneca College's Business Administration Program. As an active member of the community, Stav participates in the York Region Community Partnership Council and has served over seven years as a Volunteer, Chair and Parent Council member for the Vaughan Catholic School Board. She was awarded the Vaughan Citizen Volunteer Service Award and the National Life of Canada Award.

Krista Finlay, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health Foundation
Krista Finlay, Chief Communications and Public Affairs, Mackenzie Health

Krista Finlay was appointed President and CEO of Mackenzie Health Foundation in October 2019. Under her leadership since May 2019 (interim), Mackenzie Health Foundation is spearheading the Ultimate campaign, the largest fundraising drive led by a community hospital in Canada to help build and equip Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.

Krista joined Mackenzie Health in 2017 as Chief of Communications and Public Affairs and was appointed Vice President of Communications, Public Affairs & Stakeholder Relations in April 2019. During this time, she was responsible for corporate communications, marketing, public affairs, stewardship as well as stakeholder and community partnerships, across Mackenzie Health and Mackenzie Health Foundation. Prior to joining Mackenzie Health, Krista was the Vice-President of Communications, Patient and Community Partnerships at Trillium Health Partners where she led the communications strategy supporting the first voluntary merger of two community hospitals into one of the largest community and teaching hospitals in Canada. A seasoned communicator, Krista also founded and led a boutique consultancy offering solution-driven internal communication and change management services, with a particular focus in financial services and insurance, building on her experience as Director of Strategic Project Communications at CIBC. 

Krista is accredited through the International Association for Business Communicators (IABC) and holds an APR designation from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). She completed the Rotman School of Management Leadership Development Program, has a diploma in Public Relations from Humber College and attended the University of Western Ontario. 

 

Terry A. Villella, Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mackenzie Health

Terry A. Villella, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Mackenzie Health

Terry Villella is the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Mackenzie Health.  Terry is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight over the hospital’s entire suite of Financial Services, Payroll, Financial Planning and Analysis, Procurement, Business Services as well as  providing financial leadership of the hospital’s major redevelopment projects including the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.  She has been instrumental in the implementation of financial best practices for both hospital operations and major capital projects.

Terry has extensive financial management experience in both the private sector and the health care industry. She joined Mackenzie Health in 1988 and has held several progressive management roles during her 30 plus years with the hospital. Previously, Terry was a Senior Accountant at Philips Electronics Ltd., Medical Systems Division and was a management trainee at one of Canada’s major banking institutions. As a key member and Executive Lead for the Managed Equipment Services negotiations and implementation, Terry led Mackenzie Health’s largest single contract award to date. 

Terry is a graduate of York University’s Bachelor of Arts in Economics; is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).  In 2013, Terry was awarded the Innovation through Collaboration Award of Distinction.

Allison Trenholm, Vice President, Public Affairs, Stakeholder Relations and Chief Communications Officer

Allison Trenholm, Chief, Communications and Public Affairs, Mackenzie Health

Allison Trenholm is the Vice President, Public Affairs, Stakeholder Relations and Chief Communications Officer. She provides leadership on all aspects of internal and external communications across Mackenzie Health and Mackenzie Health Foundation including brand, crisis and issues management; government, stakeholder and media relations; social media; and strategic communications for the Foundation’s $250-million capital campaign.

Allison brings passion and experience in strategic communications, government relations and stakeholder engagement, while fostering a proactive, team-focused service delivery on both strategic and operational initiatives.

Allison first joined Mackenzie Health in early 2018 as Director, Communications, Marketing and Stewardship. Prior to joining Mackenzie Health, Allison was responsible for developing and managing internal and external communication programs for the Electrical Safety Authority. Allison also worked at Trillium Health Partners Foundation where she held increasingly progressive leadership positions – including Manager, Marketing and Communications and Associate Director, Marketing and Communications – and led the communications efforts supporting the merger of Trillium Health Centre Foundation and Credit Valley Hospital Foundation. Allison holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the Faculty of Information and Media Studies as well as a Certificate in Writing from the University of Western Ontario and is certified in change management.
