A caregiver checking an arm fracture

Mackenzie Health’s Fracture Clinic provides expert follow-up care for patients experiencing an orthopedic injury  referred from our Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre and local walk-in clinics.  We also see patients after they have had surgery at Mackenzie Health.  The clinic is supported by orthopedic surgeons and a group of interdisciplinary professionals.

Referring a Patient

If you have come to Mackenzie Health from the Emergency Department or the Mackenzie Health Urgent Care Centre, you will leave your visit with an appointment at the Fracture Clinic. If you do not receive a follow up appointment, please call the Fracture Clinic at 905-883-1212 ext. 7257.

If you went to another urgent care centre, a referral can be faxed to 905-883-0772.

How do I receive my appointment date and time?

If you are coming from another urgent care centre, please allow four (4) to five (5) business days for an appointment.

A representative from the Mackenzie Health patient scheduling office will call the you with details on your appointment date and time, and your arrival time.  If you receive a voicemail from the patient scheduling office, please call 905-883-1212 ext. 2004 from Richmond Hill or 905-883-4554 ext. 2004 from Vaughan to clarify the purpose of the call.

Online convenience with MyChart

Through MyChart, you have online access to:

  • Appointment calendar and details.
  • Update your patient demographic at any time and e-check in seven days before your next appointment.
  • Receive post-appointment clinical notes and test results.

You can register for MyChart when scheduling an appointment or can sign up online at mackenziehealth.ca/mychart.

How do I prepare for a visit to the Fracture Clinic?

You will receive a reminder notification a few days prior to your scheduled appointment. Please ensure you confirm or cancel through the automated system. Remember to bring your valid health card to your appointment.

If you experience pain before your appointment at the Fracture Clinic, please take your prescribed pain medication before your arrival.  Your care team will be assessing the part of your body where you were injured or had surgery.

If you have had any recent imaging outside of Mackenzie Health, please bring a CD of the images with you.

Please remember that Mackenzie Health is a scent-free environment.

How long does a Fracture Clinic visit take?

Your visit can take between one to three hours to complete. Factors such as how busy the clinic is, the different members of our team who will need to assess you, and whether you need an x-ray can affect the length of your visit.

What do I do when I arrive at the hospital?

Patients may park in the visitors parking lot, just north of the hospital, and enter through the D-wing entrance near the Emergency Department. Click here for more information on parking services.

During peak hours, parking can take longer than expected. Please allow yourself extra time to

accommodate this. Alternate options are to take public transit or be dropped off by a family member or friend.

Check in to the Fracture Clinic, located on Level 2, between the C-wing main lobby and the D-wing Emergency Department entrance.
