This service cares for women who have higher risk pregnancies due to maternal health conditions, prior pregnancy complications or concerns in the current pregnancy. The MFM service is composed of the following sub-specialist physicians:
Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, Fetal Cardiologist, Obstetrical Medicine Physician and a Neonatologist
The MFM, fetal cardiology, obstetrical medicine and antenatal neonatal clinics work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care to women with higher risk pregnancies and their fetuses/newborns.
Depending on the concern, patients may be seen in one or all of the clinics listed below, at some time during their pregnancy.

Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is a subspecialty of obstetrics that provides pregnancy care to women who have higher-risk pregnancies due to complex maternal medical or pregnancy history, and/or fetal or maternal complications in the current pregnancy. Consultations generally include assessment of pregnancy risk factors, ultrasound assessment and other investigations, appropriate referrals (ie fetal cardiology clinic, antenatal clinic) and ongoing fetal surveillance as indicated. MFM consultations and ultrasounds are performed in the clinic. Reasons for referral may include:
