This option is focused on providing your child and caregivers with a dedicated consultant for one year. The consultant will use the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) combined with a biopsychosocial model to assess your child's needs. A biopsychosocial model looks at biological, psychological, and social factors that might be influencing your child’s behaviour. Children and youth up to age 18 with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are eligible. This option may allow your Behaviour Consultant access to consultation with our psychiatric clinic or psychologist if required.
Targeted skills may include (but are not limited to):
- Self-injurious behaviour (SIB)
- Aggression towards property and/or aggression towards others
- Communication/language
- Activities of daily living
Your child will be assessed in the environment that would benefit from the skill or behaviour change. Once the assessments are completed, behaviour plans will be developed, based on the principles of ABA.
Included in this option:
- Individual assessment
- Community safety plan
- Training and support for parents to help with program implementation
- Investigation of a dual diagnosis
- Clinical supervision

The Program for Assessment and Treatment for Healthy Sexuality (PATHS) offers a specialized service in the Ontario Autism Program. The Justice ACAT program creates a Court Support Plan (CSP) to provide the court and all justice professionals (Judge, Crown, Defense Counsel) involved with the trial recommendations and accommodation for supporting an individual to provide their best evidence. The program also uses ABA in the form of an ABA Justice Plan to teach skills to the individual for them to understand the roles and expectations during a trial and learn how to provide their evidence to the best of their ability. It is key to note that the Justice ACAT program does not coach any evidence and the focus is on preparing an individual for their upcoming trial. It also follows the ACAT framework and fee structure as above.
