Support is urgently needed in the face of the “triple threat”

Ongoing capacity challenges continue to put pressure on emergency and pediatric care

The last few years have been extremely challenging for all of us. Unfortunately, these next few months will not be any easier as we manage through the “triple threat” of COVID-19, flu and respiratory illnesses.

At Mackenzie Health, we’re operating over capacity and many of the people coming to us for care are very sick – including an increasing number of children. We are doing everything we can to respond to our community’s need. This includes increasing our capacity to care for pediatric patients to help respond to the current surge. While our pediatric unit is located at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, our Emergency Department at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital are open to care for all patients in need.

Long wait times are not the experience we want for our patients, but they are a reality right now.

We are at our best when we work together. With York Region’s population growing faster than nearly any other community in Canada, we need your help to prepare for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

The need to support your community health care is as great today as it's ever been. Your support will help us stay ahead of the smart-tech curve, make investments in the ultimate in care, and strive to provide the compassionate and reliable care our community needs and deserves, especially in the most challenging of times.
