Volunteer Association Board of Directors

Gwen Johnstone recently retired from 32 years of teaching for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). In this role, Gwen had many leadership responsibilities, including a TDSB Literacy Leader and Instructional Leader for York University. Gwen presently volunteers at Mackenzie Health with weekly shifts in NICU, and has also volunteered in the HELP Program, as well as visited schools as a workshop leader in the Hands Up for Health Program. Currently, she also sits on the Mackenzie Health Volunteer Association Board as the newly appointed President. Previously, Gwen was appointed to two terms, as a Board Trustee for the Richmond Hill Public Library. She is very interested in supporting a healthy environment and is a member of the Richmond Hill Blue Dot Organization.

Raymond Ang has worked on the design, development, and implementation of many technology products in the health care and social service industries since he was a student. He also works on process changes to increase the effectiveness and capacities of teams. The combination of building the right products and changing work methodologies has allowed many of his teams to achieve excellent results and receive various awards.

Raymond enjoys reaction videos, grappling and comedy. He previously volunteered at Mackenzie Health as a Director at Large and at the Information Desk.

Fred Visco joined the Mackenzie Health Volunteer Association in 2015 and has many years of experience in finance and accounting. Fred is currently employed at Eaton Industries (Canada) Company, as a Financial Controller. He is a York University graduate with a Bachelor of Administrative Studies and has attained professional accreditation of CPA.

As Treasurer, Fred enjoys leveraging his knowledge and expertise to benefit the Mackenzie Health Volunteer Association and has the privilege of giving back to his community. Residing in Richmond Hill where he's raising his family, Fred has been happily married for 32 years to Mary Curtis Visco and has two daughters, Elise and Paula. 

Pierina Bosco began her journey at Mackenzie Health in 2005 and has taken on many different volunteer roles, including working at the White Rose Gift Shop. In 2012, Pierina joined the Board of Directors, initially serving as a Co-Chair on the Membership Committee. In this role, she attended various events throughout Vaughan and Richmond Hill as a brand ambassador for the hospital, and prepared Welcome Packages for incoming volunteers.

In 2016, Pierina became Chair of the White Rose Gift Shop and joined the Executive Committee of the Volunteer Association Board. She works closely with the Gift Shop Manager, pays the bills for the gift shop and acts as a liaison between the Gift Shop volunteers and the Board.

In addition to her leadership roles on the Volunteer Association Board, Pierina continues to be a part of many other committees, such as the "Hands Up for Health" program. She also leads the Italian table at the International Food Fair, attends fundraising events, helps out during "Epic" in the registration room and volunteers for the White Rose Gift Shop every Tuesday.

Pierina has been living in Vaughan for the past 35 years and enjoys reading, cooking, old movies and travelling.

Nancy Cutler retired in 2003 after a distinguished 35-year career in the Federal Public Service. During this time, she worked across Canada as a forecaster, instructor, regional director, national programs DG and a senior policy DG for Environment Canada. In 1997, Nancy was presented with the Patterson Medal (the highest award for meteorology in Canada). And in retirement, an award for women in science and technology was created in her name.

After retirement, Nancy took an interest in volunteer work. In 2004, she joined the Volunteer Association of (then) York Central Hospital as Chair of Fundraising. In 2010, she became its VP and subsequently held the President role for two years starting in 2011. As such, she oversaw not only the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Association, but also its name change as York Central became Mackenzie Health. For the past two years she has been the Honourary President for the Association. Some of her other volunteer activities include politics, senior advisory committees for agencies of the Provincial and Federal governments, Advisory Board of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Mount Allison University and the Richmond Hill Curling Club.

In her spare time, Nancy enjoys golfing, gardening, cooking, poetry and genealogy.
