In June 2021, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened its doors as the first hospital to be built in Vaughan – and the first net-new hospital in Ontario in more than 30 years.

As Mackenzie Health’s second full-service hospital, it joined Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital to double health care capacity for one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities.

But our story doesn’t end there. In fact, we’re just getting started.

Now working in tandem, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital are providing world-leading care for western York Region’s rapidly growing – and rapidly aging – population.

Our two hospital sites are already delivering leading specialized care right here in York Region in areas that include stroke, mental health, surgery, chronic kidney disease, obstetrics and pediatrics.

Annually, Mackenzie Health has seen:

0
Babies delivered
(July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023)
0
Emergency Department visits
(April 1, 2022 - March 31, 2023)
0
Surgical procedures
(January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022)

Growing with our community

With York Region’s population expected to increase by 35 per cent over the next 20 years, Mackenzie Health is facing tremendous pressure. In fact, just one year after Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened its doors to the public, patient volumes surpassed projections – three years ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Health’s emergency departments are among the busiest in the province.

Investing in the very best care, right here in York Region.

To continue pushing the boundaries of community-based medicine and ensuring the ultimate in health care is available for the people of York Region, we’re investing in the spaces, programs, people and technology that will take Mackenzie Health into the future.

Our goal is to make sure Mackenzie Health is the very best place to both give and receive care – a beacon of health care excellence right here in our community, where people can get virtually all of their health care needs met without having to travel far from home.

We can’t reach our full potential without you. Together, we will continue to build a legacy of impact for the future of health care.

As a dedicated champion of Mackenzie Health, we are deeply grateful to have you by our side — and we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve as we embark on our next chapter.
