Vaughan/Richmond Hill, ON (December 20, 2022) – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has released their coveted Digital Health Most Wired Survey results for the 2022 data collection period. Mackenzie Health again earned a level 7 achievement for the acute survey selection and is the only Canadian acute hospital to be recognized this year.
Among the more than 38,000 organizations surveyed by CHIME, Mackenzie Health ranked above peers in categories like analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement. The survey assessed the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early development to industry leading.
One of the achievements highlighted in the survey was Mackenzie Health’s use of secure video technology to deliver more than 50,000 virtual care visits to patients since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of Mackenzie Health’s clinics and programs offer a mix of in-person and virtual visits which is convenient for patients and allows for physicians to provide care to more patients.
“We are proud of the investments we have made in smart technologies at Mackenzie Health and all that it enables us to do to improve the patient and staff experience,” said Purvi Desai, Vice President of Digital Health and Chief Information Officer at Mackenzie Health. “Earning the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired recognition is a validation of our commitment to digital health and recognizes the progress we have made.”
Smart technology aims to enhance the patient and health care provider experience, improve clinical outcomes and reduce overall costs. Smart technology ultimately becomes a member of the care team, helping to foresee what comes next in a patient’s health care journey. For patients, it means more control, increased convenience, deeper knowledge and better outcomes. For the health care team, it means spending less time filling out paperwork, locating equipment and other staff and gathering information from multiple places. Above all else, it means that staff and physicians have more time to do what they do best – take care of their patients.
As success in digital health increasingly impacts the quality of patient care, the scope of the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired survey reflects the progress of leading health care providers as they reinvent health care for a new century.
This is not the first time Mackenzie Health has been recognized by CHIME. In both 2018 and 2020, Mackenzie Health was named a CHIME Digital Health Most Wired recipient, improving to a level 7 certification for the first time in 2020 and maintaining that certification this year.
