Now that we’ve given you a quick tour of what Mackenzie Health has to offer, let us tell you what it’s like beyond the hospital walls. Both our hospitals are located in York Region, just north of the City of Toronto. The area offers a variety of entertainment, shopping, parks and restaurants that will keep your work-life balance full.
It's one of the most sought-after communities in Canada, with 1.2 million residents and the numbers keep growing every day as almost 20,000 new residents move to the area each year. It's a highly educated community and the place to be for those looking to work in health care, technology and financial services. In 2015, it was ranked the best region to live in Canada and it's only continued to get better since.
So, what's there to do?
You could check out Canada's Wonderland. It's located near our new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and it has the 
world's tallest and fastest dive rollercoaster along with attractions that will keep your family entertained all day long. As one of Canada's most family-friendly communities, you also have the option of fairs, pumpkin patches, community events, sports and our recreation centres to keep your kids happy and healthy.
If you are looking for a night out on the town, there are restaurants with food inspired from every corner of the globe and, with access to the Region's buses, trains and taxi cabs, you will be able to go anywhere you want. As you attend local festivals, multicultural events, theatres, shows and public art galleries (hint: check out the McMichael Canadian Art Collection – it has the world-famous Group of Seven collection), you will find that your nightlife will never be dull.
Or your style may be to relax and spend more time in nature. York Region is a great place for biking, hiking and 
outdoor sports. There are parks, trails, forests and conservation areas all over the community to explore. During the summer season there are dozens of farmers' markets to check out. If a beach day is in your future, you can pack up the car and head to Lake Simcoe for a day of sand and sun.
