Vaughan Public Libraries – Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library

Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) is a public library system serving communities in the City of Vaughan. Among VPL's resources are an assortment of technology and creative equipment, digital resources and databases, and knowledgeable staff who are ready to assist.

The Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library is one of VPL’s newest locations. You can find the library on the ground floor of the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, and we welcome patients, visitors, and caregivers. With a library card, you may borrow materials for use in your room or at home, including books, magazines, video games, board games, movies, music, and more.

The Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library is located on the ground floor of the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital just west of the main entrance. The library is wheelchair accessible.

Other Library Locations

The library is open for 12 hours from Monday to Thursday with earlier closing times on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The exterior book return is available anytime, including after-hours, and is located beside the library entrance within the hospital.

What are the loan periods?

Most materials such as books, audiobooks, and video games can be borrowed for 21 days. Some items have shorter loan periods (7 to 14 days), such as technology items, magazines, fiction DVDs and Blu-Rays, and Fast Track items. For full details, visit the Loan Periods webpage.

How do I renew my loans?

You may renew your loans in six different ways: by internet, by phone, by text message, with the VPL mobile app, at a self-checkout station, or at the Service Desk. For full details, visit the Renewing Your Loans webpage.

Are there any late fees?

Vaughan Public Libraries does not charge overdue fines. Other library services may incur a fee. For full details, visit the Fees and Charges webpage.

What are Fast Track items?

These are titles that are in high demand, typically new releases or popular titles, that have a short loan period to allow for shorter wait times. Fast Track items cannot be renewed.

You qualify for a free library card if you live, work, own property, or attend an educational institution in the City of Vaughan. You may also qualify if in a York Region municipality, Brampton, or Town of Caledon. If you don’t qualify for a free library card, you may still get one for an annual fee.
