On October 23, 2014, Mackenzie Health acknowledged the recipients of the first President’s Kudos Awards, an annual recognition that shines a spotlight on individuals and teams whose exceptional ideas, actions and behaviours support excellence in patient care and safety, and help advance Mackenzie Health’s organizational strategy.
2014 President’s Kudos Winners:
- Albertha Henry-Carmichael, Chaplain, Spiritual Care Team, has been recognized for always going above and beyond the call of duty, assisting both patients and staff at Mackenzie Health and taking as much time as necessary to listen and comfort them spiritually. She has been described by her colleagues as being truly dedicated, caring, compassionate and selfless.
- Paul Sandor, Decision Support Consultant, has been recognized for his stellar knowledge and experience with funding, demonstrated by his leadership in the successful implementation of the new funding formula and data requirements for the hospital and more specifically the Dialysis Program. Paul’s calm and respectful approach, as well as his commitment to learning and professional growth, helps enhance the patient experience through the use of clinical data.
- The Chemotherapy Clinic Team has been recognized for maintaining an upbeat and positive atmosphere, rising to challenges, being supportive and sympathetic, as well as for their careful and accurate documentation and tracking systems. Numerous letters submitted by patients and families, with accolades on how the team has impacted their experience in a positive way, have also supported their nomination.
Mackenzie Health’s Kudos program encompasses three types of recognitions:
- On the Spot Kudos, a casual and immediate way to recognize an individual or team who demonstrates excellence in patient care and safety in their day-to-day tasks.
- Keep It Up Kudos, a formal, bi-annual recognition process that awards ten individuals and two teams for taking the excellence in patient care and safety to the next level and creating lasting impact in one or more target areas.
- President’s Kudos, an annual award that recognizes individuals and teams whose exceptional ideas and actions demonstrate excellence in patient care and safety and help advance Mackenzie Health’s organizational strategy.
