VAUGHAN, ON – On Tuesday, March 27, Anatolia Tile + Stone pledged $1 million to Mackenzie Health Foundation’s $250-million Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to help build and equip the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and advance surgery services at Mackenzie Health. Last year, Mackenzie Health performed close to 9,200 surgeries for patients who needed care for a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.
“Anatolia Tile + Stone is proud to support our community in the construction of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, the first hospital to be built in York Region in over 30 years. We’re proud to give back to the community which we call home, because exceptional care belongs here,” says Bekir Elmaagacli, Managing Director of Anatolia Tile + Stone. “We are pleased to make this financial donation which will help to ensure that the highest quality of health care is available in our backyard, when it is needed most for all of our families. We hope that this charitable gift made on behalf of the entire Anatolia Tile + Stone team makes a meaningful impact and inspires others in bringing exceptional healthcare to our community.”
In recognition of this transformative gift, the Surgical Waiting Room at the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will be named in honour of Anatolia Tile + Stone.
“Thanks to community-minded and generous corporate partners, individuals and families like the Elmaagacli family, we are making significant progress in the Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign,” says Ingrid Perry, President and CEO at Mackenzie Health Foundation. “Anatolia Tile + Stone’s incredible $1 million pledge brings our campaign total to more than $82 million raised to date towards our $250 million goal. The Elmaagacli family’s generosity will benefit this entire community, and we’re so thankful for their support.”
Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will be Canada’s first “smart” hospital with integrated technology, systems and medical devices all communicating directly to one another to maximize information exchange and enhance the patient experience. It will also be the first net new hospital to open its doors in York Region in over 30 years.
“We are so grateful to Anatolia Tile + Stone and the Elmaagacli family for giving back so generously in support of Mackenzie Health,” says Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health. “This is a very exciting time for York Region as Mackenzie Health moves closer to our vision of a two-hospital model of care becoming a reality. This is such an important step in order to ensure everyone in our community has access to the quality care they need and deserve.”
Mackenzie Health Foundation’s $250-million Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign is being spearheaded by a dedicated 33-member cabinet co-chaired by Greg Sorbara and Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.
“On behalf of the City of Vaughan, let me express my sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the Elmaagacli family for their remarkable, selfless and generous donation of $1 million toward the ongoing construction and completion of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. We came together with the family at Anatolia Tile + Stone for this important city-building announcement. As co-chair of the $250 million Exceptional Care Belongs Here Campaign, I am in awe of the unwavering generosity and compassion of the people of Vaughan, like the Elmaagacli family, who are committed to giving back to our city and to care for our citizens,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Co-Chair of the Exceptional Care Belongs Here Campaign.
“We continue to make important progress to deliver modern, accessible and frontline health care for residents in Vaughan and throughout York Region. The ongoing construction of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital is an example of what we can achieve when we work together toward a common cause to elevate the quality of life of all people. The Elmaagacli family is a shining example of the spirit of generosity that defines our community.”
Construction of the new hospital – a 1.2 million sq. ft., state-of-the-heart health care facility – began in Fall 2016 and is making significant progress toward the scheduled completion in 2020.
