Laboratory Services

Our Laboratory Services team delivers high-quality patient care and provides an extensive range of diagnostic testing for Mackenzie Health patients in hospital and those requiring tests at various clinics.

Laboratory Blood Collection hours for our clinic patients are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The Mackenzie Health Laboratory is accredited by Accreditation Canada Diagnostics and is also ISO 15189 accredited.

 

Richmond Hill Hospital

  • Laboratory Services
    • Clinical Chemistry: Specialized in many complex laboratory testing platforms to provide excellent patient care. Provides expert guidance to diabetes and lipid management, endocrine disorders and therapeutic drug monitoring.
    • Hematology: Specialized in detecting changes in blood cells in diseases such as anemia, leukemia and infection. This includes peripheral smear, bone marrows and body fluids.  Performs coagulation testing to monitor anticoagulant therapy, and to detect bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
    • Transfusion Medicine: Provide testing and compatibility of blood and blood products for patients required transfusion. Perform specialized testing to support trauma patients and ambulatory care.
    • Specimen Procurement and Management:  Skilled phlebotomist responsible for collection of specimen to support internal and external clinical programs.
    • Point of Care Testing: Diagnostic testing performed outside the laboratory and at the patient bedside allowing clinical partners to obtain faster and accurate results.
    • Microbiology: Limited services provided onsite. 
    • Outpatient Specimen Collection Laboratory Services: Support specimen collection for patients with same day doctor appointments.  Hours of operation Monday – Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

 

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital

  • Laboratory Services
    • Clinical Chemistry: Specialized in many complex laboratory testing platforms to provide excellent patient care. Provides expert guidance to diabetes and lipid management, endocrine disorders and therapeutic dug monitoring.
    • Hematology: Specialized in detecting changes in blood cells in diseases such as anemia, leukemia and infection. This includes peripheral smear, bone marrows and body fluids. Performs coagulation testing to monitor anticoagulant therapy, and to detect bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
    • Transfusion Medicine:  Provide testing and compatibility blood and blood products for patients required transfusion. Perform specialized testing to support obstetric patients and trauma patients
    • Anatomical Pathology (Cytology and Histology): Responsible for preparing all surgical specimens and needle biopsy aspirates to assist Pathologist with diagnosis
    • Specimen Procurement and Management: Skilled phlebotomist responsible for collection of specimen to support internal clinical programs
    • Point of Care Testing: Diagnostic testing performed outside the laboratory and at the patient bedside allowing clinical partners to obtain faster and accurate results
    • Microbiology: Limited services provided onsite.
