Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, the Honourable Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation and MPP Vaughan, Members of Council, and Mackenzie Health’s Board Chair and the President and CEO participated in a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the start of early work on the Vaughan Healthcare Centre Precinct, which will prepare the site for the future development of the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
Early work conducted by the City of Vaughan will include the construction of road, stormwater, water and wastewater servicing needs for the 82-acre site. All construction of the required infrastructure is scheduled to be completed by September 2015 in preparation for the start of construction on the new hospital.
Planning for the new hospital continues to move forward in parallel with preparation of the site. In March, Mackenzie Health issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify potential bidders for the construction of the new hospital. Mackenzie Health is using this process to select three top qualified bidders that will become eligible to respond to the Request for Proposals (RFP) later this year.

“This groundbreaking ceremony marks an important milestone in our efforts over the past three and a half years to improve local healthcare and bring a hospital to Vaughan. Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital is a vital part of Vaughan’s future and our ultimate goal of taking Vaughan to a higher level and creating a world-class city.”
